Dante Russo has worked behind the camera on a number of television shows and feature films including Glee, The Odd Couple, Growing Up Fisher, The New Normal, and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. Most recently, he is the recipient of the 3rd Annual ScreenCraft Screenwriting Fellowship.
Prior to his career in television, Dante wrote and directed Wiener & Wiener, a web-series about the misadventures of a chronically underachieving hot dog and his endlessly awkward human roommate. He also wrote the script/lyrics to City of Silence, Radiant Ruby, and Extraordinary, which won ‘Outstanding Music & Lyrics’ at the 2005 NY International Fringe Festival and was produced at Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater.
In addition to writing, Dante previously performed at Paper Mill Playhouse, Goodspeed Opera House, and Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, among others. He toured the US and Canada in Disney's High School Musical, as well as participated in both pre-Broadway workshops of Disney's Newsies. He's been mentioned in The New York Times, The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, and Time Out New York.
A native New Yorker now living in Los Angeles, Dante is a graduate of Emerson College and a veteran of The Upright Citizens Brigade. He is a proud member of both Actors' Equity Association and Writers Guild of America.
