Dante Russo has worked behind the camera on a number of television shows and feature films including Glee, The Odd Couple, Growing Up Fisher, The New Normal, and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. As a director, Dante just completed the short film Grief in addition to music videos for artists Melinda Sullivan, Daniel Zaitchik, and Declan Bennet; dance videos for Chloe's Syncopated Ladies and YouTube mega-network DanceOn; sizzle reels for make-up giant FACE Stockholm; sketch comedy featured on Funny or Die; and promos such as Cathrine Goldstein's novel "Sleeping With Mortals".
As a writer, Dante recently celebrated his first network writing credit on The Odd Couple starring Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon. He is a recipient of the 3rd Annual ScreenCraft Screenwriting Fellowship and Grand Prize Winner of the 2015 ScreenCraft Short Screenplay Contest for his short screenplay Grief. His drama pilot I Will See You Again was a Selected Project at the 2017 Stowe Story Labs in Vermont.
Prior to his career in television, Dante wrote and directed Wiener & Wiener, a web-series about the misadventures of a hot dog and his human roommate living in New York City. He also penned the book & lyrics to musicals City of Silence, Radiant Ruby, and Extraordinary, the latter of which won ‘Outstanding Music & Lyrics’ at the 2005 NY International Fringe Festival and was subsequently produced at Joe’s Pub @ The Public Theater.
In addition to writing, Dante previously performed at Paper Mill Playhouse, Goodspeed Opera House, and Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, among others. He toured the United States and Canada in Disney’s High School Musical and participated in both pre-Broadway workshops of Disney’s Newsies.
A native New Yorker now living in Los Angeles, Dante is a graduate of Emerson College and is a proud member of both Actors' Equity Association and Writers Guild of America, East.
